Courage Tastes Like Watermelon

Courage tastes like watermelon
A splash of renewal
Cold and clear
On a parched and fearful tongue
Afraid to voice its next word

It is the honey nectar of courage
That soothes the lips with tender sugars
Coaxing the slow of speech to
Mount up on the wings of eagles
And part red seas with melon seeds
Staunch and heavy with promise

A gallon of living waters
Drenched in summer
Waiting cool in a bowl
For hearts hungering for courage
